Charles Walter Sherred of Chimacum, WA passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017.

He was born on March 30, 1937 in Sharon, PA, son of the late Lytle S. and Rebecca (Holland) Sherred. On June 22, 1957 Charles married Wanda Musiek daughter of the late Steve and Nellie Musiek of Union City, PA.

Charles graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in Cambridge Springs, PA in 1955 where he was president of his senior class and played on the high school football team.

After graduating from Alliance Technical Institute in Cambridge Springs, he was hired by the Boeing Company in Seattle, WA. He worked there for twenty seven years as a mechanical design engineer and won several awards for outstanding design engineering, several of which Boeing Company acquired the patents. Later in his career he managed an airplane division in Everett, WA which consisted of over three hundred employees.

After retiring from the Boeing Company Charles helped create an extension of the Boeing Bluebill Organization on the Olympic Peninsula. This organization was made up of Boeing retirees that built wheel chair ramps and other devices that helped the elderly stay in their homes.

His greatest pleasure was designing and building projects from wood. His favorite project was building an eighteen foot wood strip canoe.

Charles is survived by his wife, Wanda; five children, Martin of Seattle, Derek of Bothell, James of Kent, Sandra Sherred Dayley of Poulsbo, Catherine Sherred Hirschler of Bellevue; six grandchildren, Eli Dayley, Hannah Dayley Palm, Madeline Sherred Dayley, Vivienne Sherred and Livia and Violet Hirschler; sister, Charlotte Phillips of Cambridge Springs; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 12pm at St. Mary’s’ Star of Sea Catholic Church, 1335 Blaine St., Port Townsend, WA. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Chimacum, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Center Valley Rescue Ranch, 11900 Center Road, Quilcene, WA 98376. Arrangements entrusted to The Stone Chapel Poulsbo Mortuary.
