The family of Carol Lois Ohman is sad to announce that their beloved Mom passed away at Jefferson Healthcare Hospital in Port Townsend, Washington on a wet and windy day, January 28, 2020.

She was a wonderful mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Carol was born July 3, 1939 in Port Townsend, Washington to George Thompson and Martha Wood. She spent most of her life in Jefferson County and attended school in Chimacum.

She married Richard B Christiansen on Dec. 22, 1956 and raised four children in Port Ludlow, Washington. Carol was a stay at home mom until the kids were all in school. She worked at several jobs through the years – The Resort at Port Ludlow, Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill, The Hadlock House, Fancy Feathers, The Clothes Horse and Jefferson General Hospital. She took great pride in all the jobs she worked. Carol was the ultimate shopper and loved sparkly clothes and jewelry. She even traveled to the Far East in the 80s on a “Shop ‘Til You Drop” trip with her sister Georgia. She had to buy a new suitcase to bring home all of the treasures she bought! The marriage to Richard ended in divorce in 1997. Richard passed away on March 6, 2009.

A second marriage to Merle Ohman took place in Palm Springs, California on May 23, 1998. Carol and Merle traveled to many warm locations and lived in Buckley, Washington until Merle’s death on Sept. 9, 2006. She moved to their condo in Palm Springs for the warm sunny weather in 2008.

In March 2012 Carol moved back to Jefferson County, settling in Port Hadlock to be near her children and grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her four children and their spouses – Shelley & Bob Booker, Goodyear Arizona, Donna & Gary Ellis, Scott Christiansen and Todd & Michelle Christiansen, all of Port Hadlock. Also step children, Krissy Skahan, Mark Ohman, Sue Rasczkowski and Toni Brown along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Siblings Georgia Wakefield, Barbara Shannon, Ronald Thompson, Jeff Thompson, stepbrother David Hines and half brother Tim Hines – all living in Washington state.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merle and daughter-in-law Vicki Christiansen in 2006, and her sister Loretta Thompson in 2019.

Carol’s family would like to thank the Hospice Ladies and nursing staff at Jefferson Healthcare for the loving care they gave her.

A Celebration of Life to honor our mom is being planned for Aug. 1, 2020. We are hoping the weather is warm and sunny as Mom loved those days the best.

Please consider donating to your local food bank or Hospice in Carol’s memory.
