Canadian balladeer to perform at Eaglemount Cidery

Troubadour Scott Cook will soon bring his ballads to Port Townsend’s Palindrome at Eaglemount Cidery for all to hear and enjoy.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 28, the musician will perform profound, painfully honest, and deeply human tunes to the Palindrome with confidence and charisma.

Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Scott Cook is known as a roots balladeer with a rare personal warmth. He’s managed to distill stories collected over years touring across Canada, the U.S., Europe, Asia, Australia, and elsewhere into straight-talking, keenly observant verses. Road-worn, straightforward, and captivating, his tunes weave threads of folk, roots, blues, soul, and country over spacious finger-style guitar and clawhammer banjo arrangements.

Cook’s fourth album release, “One More Time Around,” was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music award, and it’s opening track, “Pass It Along,” won the Folk and Acoustic category in the 2013 United Kingdom Songwriting Contest.

In 2017, he released his sixth album, “Further Down the Line,” earning his second Canadian Folk Music award nomination for English Songwriter of the Year. Cook is one of the hardest-working troubadours on the road today, averaging more than 150 shows and a dozen festivals every year since 2007. After all the hard miles, he still believes that songs can change your life, and your life can change the world.

“Scott Cook has distilled his travels down into songs powered by a sharp eye for imagery, a healthy dose of humanity, and that unforgettable voice, that at the same time intones the rigors of the road and the most comfortable couch you have ever slept on,” said three-time Juno-winning songwriter David Francey.

Tickets are $20 each at scottcookduo.brownpapertickets.com or at the door. Proof of vaccination is required to attend.

This concert series is produced by Rainshadow Recording as part of a new collaboration with Matt Miner, former producer of the Northwind Songs concert series, held at Northwind Arts Center before the pandemic. The show is sponsored by Strait Floors and KPTZ Radio.
