Despite smoke hanging around the northern end of Lake Crescent and crews fighting a nearby wildfire from the land and air, it's still mostly business as usual over at Log Cabin Resort.
Smoke has been reported throughout the area, prompting a halt to boat rentals Friday, and staff at the lodge said rangers have given the resort the OK to continue operations.
The Log Cabin Resort is on the south side of East Beach Road on the north shore of Lake Crescent. It includes a lodge, eight rustic cabins, plus additional camper cabins and a campground and tent campsite.
The fire response from the Western Washington Type 3 Incident Management Team so far includes three helicopters, five fire engines, two water tenders, and three other pieces of heavy equipment, plus two timber fallers and five hand crews. A total of 125 personnel have been sent so far to combat the fire.
The Western Washington Type 3 Incident Management Team is working with the National Park Service and Washington Department of Natural Resources to "develop a plan to fully suppress the fire and minimize its impact on the landscape," officials said.
The plan for fighting the fire Friday focused on access at the north end of the fire from old logging roads.
