Bruce D. Allen, 78, a resident of Port Townsend, Washington, passed away in the early morning of April 21, 2019. He faced death with the same fearlessness with which he lived his life. He was born on October 15th, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio to Dorothy and Edgar Allen. He spent most of his early life in Middlefield, Ohio. He is survived by his two sons, Sean D. Allen and Mark D. Allen, their mother, Maureen West, and his partner in life, Rachael Blythe of Guelph, Canada. Bruce was a star in Middlefield High School, where he played football and graduated as valedictorian in the class of 1958. He studied at MIT for two years and then Oberlin College for a year before joining the Air Force where he was awarded “Airman of the month.” During his time in the Air Force he got his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State and his Masters Degree in Operations Research from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. After leaving the Air Force as a captain, he moved back to California and worked at several companies including Stanford Research Institute (SRI) before deciding his life was not to be defined by his work, but his travels and adventures. Bruce was an avid seeker of new flavors in food and people. He loved life unconditionally and seized every moment. A true seeker. He was fascinated with math, an avid chess player, and an enthusiastic music lover. His deep love of music inspired both of his sons to play instruments, write songs, and perform in bands. He lived in Mexico, Canada, and spent the last 10 years of his life in Port Townsend, Washington. He was loved by friends he made in all of the places he resided. His peaceful existence and his caring and thoughtful interactions will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to become part of his life. In his own words: “I am a lover of beauty; whether found in nature, in art, in mathematics, in music, or in the human heart.”

Funeral arragements: There will be a memorial held in Half Moon Bay on Saturday, June 8th. If you would like more information or you have any need to contact the family or estate, please email brucedallen@allucinari.com.
