Greg Brotherton is one of the best county commissioners we’ve had in the last 30 years. I strongly encourage you to vote for him.

Jefferson County, like many rural areas across the country, is facing complex and difficult issues. Rapid population growth, demographic changes, the need to develop innovative and resilient strategies while protecting our quality of life and sense of place. Our community, which is known for doing many amazing and unorthodox projects, needs to do more and be innovative. Housing, good paying work, food, youth development, land management. They all require real leadership like that demonstrated by Greg Brotherton.

Brotherton, and three generations of his family, live and work in Quilcene. When the last gas station in South County announced its closure Brotherton stepped in quickly to keep the station open and expand it into a successful local grocery and then opened another store in Discovery Bay with local workers. Brotherton was elected to the school board and now innovative programs have expanded funding and enrollments attracting young families into the area.

What skills and experiences makes a commissioner successful? Humility, curiosity, ability to frame issues and engage diverse residents who don’t always agree.

Brotherton has true passion for the goodness of our community to act together with hope, not fear and negativity. He is genuinely energized to sit down and listen, to walk with residents on-site, to develop a shared understanding of complex issues whether that be development, housing, timber, food production, or jobs.

One priority is affordable housing, for seniors, young families, and our workforce. Greg went into action, meeting with neighbors, developing options, working with OlyCAP on their first new project in decades and with the Housing Authority which is planning two new projects.

Brotherton deserves our enthusiastic vote to continue his public service for our community.
