Brotherton earns my hearty endorsement for re-election | Letter to the editor

We have a choice.

In the last election for District 3 Commissioner, 13,734 voters overwhelmingly chose Greg Brotherton to serve Jefferson County.

Greg has chosen to run again on his platform of ACTION, COMPASSION, TEAMWORK.

Greg acts  — but only after reading, researching and reviewing. He encouraged scientific measurement of carbon dioxide/ room air flow to inform when and where to mask up during COVID.

Greg acts with compassion, realizing that everyone has a piece of situational understanding. His advocacy for the neighborhood, the “homeless” community, law enforcement and service providers involving the fairground encampment considered all parties with a compromise resulting in the evolving Caswell Brown neighborhood.

Greg does not act alone; he has nurtured teamwork partnerships with county staff, neighborhoods, nonprofits, state and national governmental agencies; he is part of a dynamic team of commissioners who do not always agree but can always debate and deeply discuss the issues.

Greg chose a dissenting vote on a DNR harvest, which prompted new statewide discussions on expanding choices for timber resource management that considers both local junior taxing districts and the environmental impacts.

Greg chose to look more deeply into the code about potable water with the building department which broke a deadlock on the Quilcene school bus barn project.

These hard policy conversations bring results because of the trust Greg has established over his term of service. Greg chooses to do what is right, not necessarily what is politically popular.

We have a choice to support Greg’s action, compassion and teamwork. District 3 voters can make their choice in the August 2nd primary election and reconfirm it in November!

I heartily endorse Greg Brotherton for re-election.
