A 45-year-old Brinnon man was charged with driving under the influence after the Washington State Patrol said the man caused a head-on collision south of Hoodsport Sunday that left four people injured.

The crash happened just after 11:30 a.m. Nov. 29 on U.S. Highway 101 near Milepost 332.

The Brinnon man was driving a 1997 Honda Accord south on the highway, and the State Patrol said the Brinnon man drifted into the northbound lane of traffic.

The man went onto the shoulder of the northbound lane, then swerved back toward the southbound lane and collided head-on with a 2019 Mazda CX-9 SUV driven by a 33-year-old Olympia woman that was headed north.

The Brinnon man was injured and taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.

The woman was also taken to St. Peter Hospital as a precautionary measure, along with her two passengers, a 7-year-old girl from Olympia, and a 36-year-old woman from Lakeside, California.

The State Patrol said the crashed vehicles left U.S. Highway 101 blocked for two hours Sunday.

The Honda and the Mazda were towed by Jim's Automotive.
