Port Townsend Marine Science Center
The Port Townsend Marine Science Center thanks donors for supporting their work in rescuing and rehabilitating stranded marine mammals. Center staff also educate the public on how to safely handle stranded animals and protect against potential risks. In partnership with NOAA, the center may retain marine mammal skeletons for educational use and looks forward to expanding its exhibits to inspire further awareness and action.
Jefferson County Library District
This year, the Library District made strides in energy efficiency and accessibility. They received a new all-electric transit van and began an energy audit with the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services to assist with grant funding toward solar sustainability projects. A lift was also added to the Bookmobile to help those with mobility issues.
The year also brought challenges, including a partial roof replacement and maintenance issues with the Bookmobile, temporarily disrupting services. The district launched a new, mobile-friendly website this year and is nearing the completion of a new Annex building to shift staffing and services. The library district asks for donations to help them achieve their goals and fund ongoing projects. Donations can be made online at jclibrary.info.
