Bremerton driver collides with bus near Hood Canal Bridge

Posted

A 31-year-old Bremerton man was injured after his 2000 Saturn SL sedan hit a transit bus on Highway 104 at Paradise Bay Road just west of the Hood Canal Bridge Thursday evening.

The bus had been stopped at the stop sign when it pulled out onto Highway 104 and cleared the intersection when the Bremerton man, who was traveling west, accelerated and struck the front of the bus, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The driver then lost control of the Saturn, veered across the intersection sideways, went into the ditch on the eastern side of the road and rolled over. The Saturn landed on its top in the ditch.

The State Patrol said the cause of the crash was speeding.

The Bremerton man was taken by an aid unit to St. Michael Medical Center-Silverdale for treatment. The driver of the transit bus, a 55-year-old Port Hadlock man, was not injured.

The Saturn was totaled in the collision and was removed from the ditch by All City Auto Body & Towing.

The bus, a 2020 Gillig G27, had reportable damage.

The Bremerton driver will be charged with speeding, according to the State Patrol.
