Boxleitner is Leader’s new reporter

Kirk Boxleitner is on the beat as a reporter and photographer with the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader.

Boxleitner, 41, grew up in eastern Washington, graduated from high school in Massachusetts and attended Syracuse University in New York. He served seven years as a U.S. Navy journalist, including overseas duty as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He served in Italy and Japan, with his last station aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.

For the past 12 years, he has been a civilian journalist in the Puget Sound region. Reporting for The Marysville Globe, The Arlington Times and the North County Outlook in North Snohomish County, since 2004 Boxleitner has won 18 awards from the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association. He’s covered everything from local government and businesses to multicultural issues and profiles of unique personalities.

Boxleitner is familiar with Port Townsend and Jefferson County; his parents have lived at Cape George Colony Club for nearly two years.
