Book authors called it right, and they called it very early
“It’s Even Worse Than It Looks.” That is the title of the book by Thomas E. Mann and Norman J. Ornstein published in 2012 and it is more true today than then.
The authors paint one of the two major political parties as an “insurgent outlier — ideologically extreme; contemptuous of the inherited social and economic policy regime; scornful of compromise; unpersuaded by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.”
Our national disaster known as the COVID-19 pandemic can be placed at that party’s doorstep — which also leads to Mar-a-Lago.
