Bonnie Rita Ludwig, resident of Port Hadlock, WA, passed peacefully with family at her side early in the morning on May 2nd, 2019. She was born in Greenville, Ohio on April 14, 1951. She lived in Ohio until high school when her family moved to Anaheim, California. She graduated from Anaheim High School in 1969. While there, she met her future husband, John Ludwig, while at Disneyland. They married in 1971, had two children and moved to Washington State in 1978 to raise their children.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Ludwig, as well as her two children, Shawn Ludwig and Kari Slack, and her two grandchildren, Olivia Garten and Ryan Landgren. She has three surviving sisters, LaDonna Brewer of Ohio, JaneAnn Pharris of Tennessee and Jill Sprouse of California as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bonnie always had a smile and a kind word for anyone around her. Prior to her death she was in Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Wa. While in the hospital, she received several visits, calls and even flowers from residents and employees she met while residing at Bainbridge Island Health and Rehab. Her sense of humor and compassion will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her as well as her random singing to lift the spirits of those around her.

She enjoyed her hobbies, such as quilting, making jewelry and homemade greeting cards almost as much as visiting with friends and especially relatives like her sisters and her grandchildren.

There will be an informal Celebration of Life on June 29th, 2019 at the Irondale Evangelical Free Church, located at 618 Irondale Rd, Port Hadlock from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the reception to follow. Anyone wishing to say a few words or just stop by is encouraged to come. In lieu of flowers, please consider leaving a donation which will be applied to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation in Bonnie’s name.
