When people are experiencing grief and loneliness, Christmas may not feel like “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”
For those feeling estranged from the holiday spirit, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will offer a quiet, meditative, nondenominational Blue Christmas service on Thursday, December 19, at 4:00 pm in the Parish Hall at 1020 Jefferson Street in Port Townsend.
The Rev. Craig Vocelka, interim rector at St. Paul’s, explained the Blue Christmas service is for “those who have suffered a personal loss — like divorce, the death of a loved one, serious illness, or job loss —and who may struggle to find joy in this holiday season. This service seeks to offer comfort and connection, and to honor their feelings.”
Vocelka added, “Regardless of where you are on your faith journey; please know you are not alone. You are welcome to join us in the Parish Hall.”
