Barbara Carol Minchin passed away peacefully on Aug. 31, 2021, at Martha & Mary Health and Rehab in Poulsbo, Washington, just shy of her 83rd birthday.
Barbara taught at the University of Washington School of Nursing in early 1970 and later practiced psychiatric nursing at the University of Washington hospital. After becoming an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) she practiced in New Mexico, Okanogan, Wash., and finally in Port Townsend, Wash. She also had a long military career; first as an Air Force nurse flying soldiers out of Vietnam, then serving in the Army and Army Reserves, and finally retiring as a major after 23 years of service.
Barb loved hiking in the North Cascades and was a dog lover. She had a great sense of humor that never faded, a sharp wit, and was a very kind and generous person.
A memorial service will be held for Barbara at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Port Townsend.
There will be military funeral honors, and a reception following the service in the Parish Hall adjacent to the church.
