Late interest was sparked in last week’s auction for East Jefferson Fire Rescue’s surplus ladder truck.
The online auction, conducted by Stokes Auction in Port Orchard, put the fire department’s 1989 Sutphen Aerial Tower Fire Truck Model TS100 on the block.
Fire commissioners decided earlier this year to sell the ladder truck after it was replaced by a new one, but the auction for the retired rig drew just one bid before the sale’s final day on Wednesday, July 29.
As the auction deadline neared, however, a total of 25 more bids were received and the ladder truck was finally sold for $4,650.
According to the online description for the Sutphen truck, the rig had 29,896 miles on the odometer. It has been used in service for a total of 2,462 hours.
