Monthly Energy Lunch set Dec. 15

Jefferson County Energy Lunch presents "Benefits to Public Power from Local Transportation Electrification" with key speaker JJ McCoy. The talk is noon-2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 15 at the Port Townsend Yacht Club, 2503 Washington St.

McCoy is senior policy associate at Seattle's NW Energy Coalition, a group of more than 100 public and private energy interests in the Pacific Northwest.

He has analyzed transportation electrification and is to describe how increased conversion to electric-powered transportation for some people tends to put downward pressure on public power rates for all, according to a press release.

Pro bono lawyers present free clinic

The Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers group presents its quarterly Jefferson County free legal clinic on Saturday, Dec. 17. The free, drop-in legal advice clinic is noon-3 p.m. at the Tri-Area Community Center, 10 W. Valley Road, Chimacum.

The clinic allows for local people to address their legal issues in one-on-one consultations with volunteer lawyers, according to a press release. The event is intended to help those who are otherwise unable to financially access an attorney, but is open to all those who attend. Attorney volunteers are to be available to answer legal questions, direct people to local services that might be able to assist them and to explain the legal process to them, according to a press release. Volunteers can answer questions regarding family law, tenant/landlord, public assistance, estate, bankruptcy, employment and creditor issues.

It is anticipated that demand for this clinic will be high, said event organizers, so it is recommended that attendees arrive on time to ensure being seen by an attorney.
