Joe Jencks to perform at Rainshadow Recording Studio

Joe Jencks will perform at 7:30 p.m. March 14 at Rainshadow Recording, Fort Worden State Park, Building 315.

Joe Jencks is an international touring musician, award-winning songwriter, and celebrated vocalist known for his performances of musical beauty, social consciousness and spiritual exploration, according to a news release.

A 20-year veteran of the international Folk circuit, Jencks has released 15 CDs in that time. Merging conservatory training with his Irish roots and working-class upbringing, Joe delivers engaged musical narratives filled with heart, soul, groove and grit. Blending well-crafted instrumentals and vivid songwriting, Jencks serves it all up with a lyric baritone voice that has the edgy richness of a good sea-salt caramel.

Jencks’ most recent solo CD, “The Forgotten: Recovered Treasures From The Pen of Si Kahn,” contains 14 previously unrecorded songs from American folk legend, Si Kahn.

Uncle Bonsai to perform in Coyle

Uncle Bonsai will perform at 3 p.m. March 17 during the ongoing "Concerts in the Woods," series at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road, in Coyle.

“Uncle Bonsai is an anomaly in the folk music world with an unusual mixture of music and comedy,” said Norm Johnson, series founder and organizer. “They have developed a faithful following of true fans over the years as they have kept their music and humor fresh with the changing times.”

Entry to the all ages show is by donation.

Mirinesse Women’s Choir Concert

Seattle-based Mirinesse Women’s Choir will perform “Ignite the Universe” at 3 p.m. March 16 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 45 Redeemer Way, Chimacum.

Co-conducted by Pt. Townsend resident Rebecca Rottsolk, who also conducts Pt. Townsend’s RainShadow Chorale, the 65-voice choir will present a varied program featuring composers from Henry Purcell and Clara Schumann to Joan Szymko, Moira Smiley and Ola Gjeilo, according to a news release.

In addition to music performed by Mirinesse, the women of RainShadow Chorale will sing two pieces and will join Mirinesse singers for a third.

“I’m incredibly proud of RainShadow and the hard work of all our singers to become a first-class choir here,” Rottsolk said. “It was the perfect opportunity for RainShadow women to join in. Conducting Mirinesse is a joy for me, and I’m thrilled to share that with our local singers and followers Mirinesse, which is old English for joyful women, rehearses and performs during a short period each year, which works well for singers who have busy lives but can find time for

the opportunity to be part of such an exceptional group.”

Quimper Storytelling Guild

Quimper Storytelling Guild 's 3rd Sunday StorySwap StoryCrafting, is slated for 2 p.m. March 17 at the Port Townsend Library Learning Center, 1220 Lawrence St.

Aspiring and experienced storytellers gather to develop and enhance our craft in an informal and supportive setting. Afternoon includes both a story swap, and engaging activities. Sign-up for story swap is on a sign-up on a 1st come basis.

Tellers typically complete their story in under 7 minutes, and choose if they'd like listeners to "feed the story or feed the teller," according to a news release.

The Guild provides listeners with guidelines in constructive feedback. Stories are told, not read, with use of character voices, gestures, music and props to enhance the telling of a story are welcomed.

Following the story swap at 3:30 p.m. will be refreshments, social time and Guild business discussion.
