In the March 17 Leader, I was dismayed to read what seems to be a hatchet job on Dave Robison: a citizen who has contributed years of good service to the community.
While I understand that The Leader is struggling with the Peninsula Daily News in a battle for readership, it does not excuse the sensational and one-sided reportage. “Center of the Sinkhole,” “AWOL Leadership” and hints of criminal behavior. Such yellow journalism may sell papers at the checkout line, but serves to authenticate the common nickname: The Misleader (sic).
As I pored through the article, I hoped to read of Mr. Robison’s responses, or at least the words Mr. Robison refused to comment. If Mr. Robison was interviewed, The Leader did not so indicate. Buried within the article was a brief nod to his “vision passion” and other qualities of leadership. However, the article was an overwhelming attack on a man who has given much to Port Townsend. I hope that The Leader will be more balanced in future investigative journalism.
