Art School Application

Posted

I like to say I went to art school. Actually, I went to Palomar Junior College in San Marcos, California, took most of the art classes available while working at what I thought was a proper job for an aspiring artist, nub/apprentice sign painter at Buddy's Sign Service in Oceanside.

After two years and almost three months experience as a nub/apprentice, I was able to get a job as a journeyman painter painter in San Diego. It was a grownup job I was quite unqualified for, but, with credits still needed (mostly math and science- I took many humanities classes), I dropped out.

Several years later, Trish and I having moved to Encinitas (back in the Palomar district), we took some night classes, hers to advance her career with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, mine to... yeah, I took art classes.

Still, I never did get a degree.

Still, I continue to draw and paint; I can list all the incredibly exciting artsy projects I've had the fortune to have been involved in, I just can't list any impressive academic credentials.

You could check out my surf/art/fun site, realsurfers.net for some samples of... I don't know, maybe it's folk art. Thanks.
