Art league awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors

The Port Ludlow Art League recently awarded scholarships to two of Jefferson County’s graduating high school seniors.

This year’s Port Ludlow Art League scholarship was awarded to Port Townsend High School graduate Nessa Seebergoss, who plans to attend DigiPen Institute of Technology.

In honor of their daughter, Kristen Elizabeth Chesney, Kent and Wendy Chesney also offered a second scholarship for a recent graduate who plans to pursue a degree in art or art education.

The Kristen Elizabeth Chesney Scholarship was awarded to Audrey Drake, a Port Townsend High School graduate with plans to study visual arts at the University of Washington.

Funds for the art league’s creative scholarships are raised by members of the Port Ludlow Art League.

This year, they created 6-inch-by-6-inch plaques of original art to sell to the public. They raffled off two original abstract paintings, and they held an art supply sale.

For the 2022 scholarship fund, new 6-inch-by-6-inch plaques of original art are available for purchase now at the Port Ludlow Art League Gallery.
