Kathy Grim is getting to know the place she now calls home through the local branch of Urban Sketchers, which travels to various locations on the Olympic Peninsula to capture the scenes they observe.

“I love it,” said Grim, who came to Port Townsend from Michigan, “We go to a lot of places that I just wouldn't go on my own.”

Grim was one of a group of sketchers who went to the Port Townsend Saturday Farmers Market on April 29. It was her first time at the market, and she had a great time. “I've got to go back so I can walk around,” she said. “I'm just excited about every place I go,” Grim said. “It's just great to be with a group that has interests the same as mine.”

Urban Sketchers meets about twice a month to fulfill the international organization’s aim to “show the world, one drawing at a time.” The group meets next on May 27 (see calendar listing on page B2.) For more information, contact group leader Barbara Kurland through the group’s website, urbansketchersporttownsend.wordpress.com. or at barbkurland@gmail.com.
