Applications being accepted for camp

The Rotary Club of East Jefferson County is accepting applications from high school sophomores and juniors to attend the 2022 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.

The Pacific Northwest Rotary Youth Leadership Awards will be held June 8 through June 11 at YMCA Camp Colman in Longbranch.

Every year, the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County sends up to three students from Chimacum High School, Quilcene High School, or students who are home-schooled in those school districts to Rotary’s Youth Leadership program via full-ride scholarships.

According to the Rotary, the program is a four-day experience full of activities that emphasize leadership, teamwork, and decision-making. The program is designed to stimulate and cultivate leadership potential in youth by providing meaningful leadership training experiences through programs such as physical and mental challenges, discussions, and guest speakers.

Attendees at the program can learn how to build communication and problem-solving skills, discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader, and learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors.

Applications will be accepted through March 31.

When an application is submitted, it will be reviewed by the Rotary Club of East Jefferson County.

Applicants will be interviewed, and if accepted, receive a full scholarship to attend the camp.
