For a second year, Marvin G. Shields Memorial American Legion Post 26 is offering three $1,000 scholarships to 2016 graduating seniors from Jefferson County high schools. These scholarships can be used for college, or for vocational/technical schools and programs, leading to a certificate required for future employment.
"The scholarship program is extremely important to the post, and we are proud to be able to support deserving students,” said Gary Lane, post commander.
Scholarship application instructions are available from high school counselors at Port Townsend, Chimacum and Quilcene high schools.
Applications must be received by April 8 for students to be eligible.
