The man believed to have stolen the van recovered near Camp Discovery Road by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday was apprehended Thursday, Sept. 24 and booked into the Jefferson County Jail without incident.

According to an online post by the sheriff’s office, deputies received a call about a possible suspect regarding the auto theft in Coyle at about 1 p.m. Thursday.

“The reporting party advised that a suspicious male on a bike peered away from her when she passed,” they said.

Deputies proceeded to the area and located the suspect's bike near Dabob Post Office Road. Later, they located the suspect, 25, of Snohomish, hiding nearby in the woods.

“The original reporting person positively identified him as the same man seen fleeing from the stolen vehicle [Wednesday],” authorities said.

The van he’s alleged to have stolen in Kent was recovered by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, Sept. 23 after a hunter found the vehicle parked near Camp Discovery Road.

According to an initial online post, deputies responded to the area after a hunter came across a suspicious van parked on a slight embankment.

“The hunter approached the van and scared the male inside, who fled the van on a bicycle, spilling his [White Claw Hard Seltzers] in flight,” the post read. “While en route, deputies learned the vehicle was stolen out of the Kent area during a burglary.”

Officers, troopers, and deputies searched the area with help from a Sequim K9 unit in an attempt to locate the suspect to no avail.
