The U.S. Air Force and Navy are encouraging those in the Puget Sound area, including folks in East Jefferson County, to be on the lookout for a special demonstration in the skies on Friday, May 8.

The 62nd Airlift Wing, based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, will perform an “Air Force Salutes” morale flyover throughout the sound—including Port Ludlow, Port Hadlock and Port Townsend—to recognize all those at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19.

The demonstration is scheduled to fly over Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend around 1:11 p.m., after flying over Port Ludlow and Port Hadlock, and during the event, the wing will conduct a C-17 Globemaster III two-ship formation flyover.

Naval Magazine Indian Island team issued a public statement declaring how grateful they are for the efforts of all essential workers out there who are diligently working to treat and prevent the further spread of the virus.
