The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 124 calls between Friday, Jan. 28, and Thursday, Feb 4. Below are selected reports.
At 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, a caller in the 1800 block of 21st Street complained of mail theft.
They believe the theft to be ongoing for three to five years, and that a neighbor and his girlfriend are responsible.
They also claimed another neighbor has access to all the houses in the neighborhood. The caller has known mental health issues, and the officers documented her call.
At 1:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, a caller complained of a man drinking out of a bottle of alcohol on Water Street, dancing, and playing his guitar.
An officer reminded the man of the rules around open containers.
At 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, a man in the 300 block of 26th Street reported that someone had taken a 6-foot gate from his driveway sometime in the past two days.
He just wanted officers to call him if a gate showed up.
At 3:20 p.m. Monday, Feb.1, a woman showed up at a store in the 400 block of Water Street who had been trespassed from the business for shoplifting in the past.
Officers told the woman she was not allowed into the store. She told officers she had paid for her items, and produced a receipt.
While her claim was correct, she was trespassed and issued a citation to court.
At 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, a caller in the 1100 block of Water Street said there was a man in his 50s wrapped in blankets and smoking, talking about drugs.
Another person joined him, also smoking.
Officers arrived as the second person left. The smoking man was incoherent but docile, and was advised not to panhandle.
At 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, a caller said a woman in the 800 block of Water Street was carrying a baby dressed only in a diaper.
The woman was dressed in a long green coat. Officers could not locate the woman.
At 2 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, a caller who lives near the 900 block of Blaine Street called about people at a local business that was closed. Officers found three people digging through a scrap pile. They were released with a warning for trespassing.
At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, a caller in the 400 block of Sims Way said they had seen someone leave a very friendly white pit bull dog without a collar in the parking lot, then leave on a bus without the dog. An officer transported the dog to the shelter.
