Port Townsend’s Trinity United Methodist Church staged a Halloween parade Saturday, with costumed revelers passing by Life Care Center of Port Townsend and the Victoria Place senior living community. 

"It turned out to be a community event with 40 people participating from the church and 60-plus participating from the community," said Pastor Tony Brown. 

"In all, 42 children from the community dressed up and did our own socially distanced parade for the residents of both places. The smiles on the residents faces as they saw the parade made it more than worth the time of trying to safely orchestrate the event in the midst of COVID."

The costumed youngsters' good deed did not go unrewarded, either. 

"We handed out 42 huge bags of candy that the people of the church put together for the children," Brown said. "The idea was to give them as much candy as they would have gotten from the annual downtown Halloween parade — I think they ended up with more." 

Trinity United Methodist is located at 609 Taylor Street in Port Townsend.
