This is to remember the kindness my mother taught me by her own daily actions in giving to others.
Her name is held in my soul and heart every day for all those times she was there for me during hard times as well as better times. She had the gift of forgiveness and never yelled or criticized my choices. Instead she listened and encouraged me to do the best I could each day when I left for school.
Many times I would bring home friends who needed some home baked brownies or chocolate-chip cookies and time to just be accepted and respected. This my mother could give much better than I could. She became the role model for me when I needed to re-think the way I dressed and how I spoke.
In her own gentle way she kept me true to my authentic self.
So on Mother’s Day I wanted to share the grateful heart I have although she died in 1996 she remains with me everyday.
When I see the red geraniums and lillies in my yard, I see her face and hear her voice saying, do not harm, take your time and be patient.
I hope some of you had such a wonderful mother, too.
