Subject to favorable weather, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) are to resume a series of six-hour night closures of the Hood Canal Bridge on State Route 104. The following schedule is tentative, according to WSDOT.
At 11 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2-5, crews are set to close the bridge to vehicular traffic. The bridge would remain closed until 5 a.m. the following day.
To rebuild and replace internal mechanics of the bridge's draw span, crews need to take precise measurements of those systems, according to a press release.
Even slight winds or tides could adversely affect their ability to take those measurements, and the work and accompanying closures could be postponed.
The closures are a key part of a WSDOT project to rebuild and replace the internal mechanics of the Hood Canal Bridge draw span.
