4-H offers a training in “Pursing Justice” for high school students on Saturday, Dec. 10. The event set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Jefferson County Courthouse in Port Townsend is part of 4-H’s “Know Your Government” (KYG) program. Registration is required. All teens (grades 9-12) are invited to this interactive, fun training about our government’s judicial branch. This training is a prerequisite for taking part in 4-H’s broader KYG program that culminates in a four-day, statewide conference in Olympia Feb. 18-21, 2017.
The mission of 4-H’s KYG program is to strengthen the connection between youth and our political and social networks through education, experience, application and inspiration. Youth participating in this program practice life skills such as critical thinking, communication and positive citizenship, according to a press release. KYG also meets state educational standards such as the civics graduation requirement, various social studies requirements, and English language arts requirements.
