3.4-million party for taxpayers while school kids go homeless

“As everyone else around Trump (including his wife and youngest son) stood solemnly with their hands over their hearts, Trump fidgeted, waved his hands, pointed at people and pretended to conduct the music. The video of the president cutting up during the anthem, first reported by the Miami Herald, was part of an Instagram story posted by a real estate agent at the party, which was held for a select group of the president’s supporters.

“The event cost American taxpayers $3.4 million, according to an analysis by HuffPost.”

More serious activity than this cost Kaepernick (who is Black) his career as a National Football League quarterback. Sitting, then kneeling, during the playing of the National Anthem. “Trump was one of the most vocal participants in the debate about athletes choosing not to stand for the national anthem in order to protest what they said were larger social problems in America. Police brutality, basically.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly said all Americans should “stand proudly” during the national anthem, and publicly chastises those who don’t as disrespectful of the troops and the flag. But some of wonder just what the flag really stands for when the likes of Trump wraps himself in it.

He just says whatever impresses his audiences of the moment, lying and exaggerating as convenient.

During the national anthem at his own Super Bowl watch party Sunday night, a brief video posted to Instagram shows Trump greeting guests, adjusting his chair, and straightening his suit jacket as other attendees — including first lady Melania Trump and their teenage son — stand with their hands over their hearts. As “The Star Spangled Banner” crescendoes, Trump raises both of his hands in the air, and twirls them around as if conducting the music.

One wonders if he even bothered to learn the words.

The video was included in an Instagram story by a real estate agent for a Russian-American firm who frequents Mar-a-Lago and other Trump properties and events (and who probably won’t be seen much in the future).

I have room left over at the moment—as I struggle to keep up with the times—so I’l just point out here an article from “The Hill” that describes how Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) went after President Trump's State of the Union speech late Tuesday, characterizing it as a long collection of lies designed to mislead voters about the administration's track record, particularly on the issue of health care. A sample for many of us who were listeners Tuesday: “Trump, since taking office, has fought hard to repeal the Obama-era Affordable Care Act (ACA), which expanded health insurance coverage to millions of uninsured Americans and barred insurance companies from denying coverage — or charging higher costs — to those patients with pre-existing conditions. The administration is currently promoting a lawsuit to scrap the ACA in its entirely.

Yet Trump used his annual State of the Union speech to tout his health care policies, promoting ‘an ironclad pledge to American families’ to ‘always protect patients with pre-existing conditions.’

"That is a guarantee," he said. Such lying promises from Donald are totally meaningless, but he finds them useful in brain-washing the inattentive.
