"Although almost every U.S. president in the past half-century has run a record budget deficit at one time or another, the largest budget deficits in U.S. history were run by former President Donald Trump and his two immediate predecessors."

I think every administration in my lifetime has spent $$ we don't have. That does not bode well for our future.

Alexander Fraser Tytler said a long time ago; "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

I'm not about to defend Trump's spending, but as James Carville said "It's the economy, stupid." James Carville was correct. The Trump-hating Democrats are trying to make the coming elections all about Trump, because they don't want the voters to ask themselves if they are, after they pay all of their monthly living expenses, better off today than they were 3-4 years ago.
