In June of 1922 Rhody Day was declared by Jefferson County, 60 cars were rounded up to meet the ferry from Seattle to give tourists lunch and a tour of Rhody's. It was a great success. (hard to believe there were 60 cars on the Peninsula)

By 1923 April 27th became Rhododendron day with tours. Also that year the state of Washington offered protection of Peninsula acres to stop the devastation of Rhododendrons. Hadlock & Irondale were declared a wonder.

Rhody Drive, a wonder of beauty, what happened to all the Rhody's on highway 19, highway 20, highway 101, Marrowstone Island? Seems it's all been replaced by Scotch Broom.
