A little history, when the Leader started October 2, 1889 the price for a copy was pennies. The price was raised periodically through the years. In 1943 the price was raised to $2.50 a year [service men $1.50 per year]. In 1958 the rate advanced 50 cents to $3.50. In 1981 it increased 30 cents a copy, In 1985 the cost went up from $12 a year to $18. 1993 a subscription was $19, single copy 60 cents. And in 1995 the price went to 75 cents from 60 cents.

I paid for my yearly subscription this year $52 up from $47 in 2017.

So I spend $1 a week for the Leader, which includes online subscription, and they keep me informed about what’s happening in Jefferson County. I think it’s a bargain!
