As a long time volunteer at the visitor information center at three different locations, I hope this is just a temporary change. There is no comparison between in-person and online visitor information. Online is just a commercial, while in-person is more of a discussion of what might be the best ideas for the individuals seeking adventures in the area. In-person volunteers also added to our historic, small town character because volunteers loved their community and that came across to all of the travelers. I know that travelers explored and stayed longer if they first discussed their trip with volunteers.
