While there appears to be many possible causes for pathological lying, it's not yet entirely understood why someone would lie this way] knows it is a serious mental illness that cannot be controlled without medication. Anyone who has lived with a pathological liar understands that they often lie, when the truth would be better for them. A lot of our fellow citizens recognized this in Trump long before he became president. As with everything else in his life, he has no empathy, is narcissistic, and does not care what the truth is. This is a serious illness and should have been treated a long time ago with therapy & medication.

His followers have swallowed his lies because they don't recognize this illness.
