Thanks for your much-needed voice full of common sense and fiscal sanity. "We've got Parks!" yes, indeed.

Some have dittoed the recommendation of The 10-Minute Walk Program which "helps cities expand access and green spaces for everyone. Everyone in U.S. cities should have access to a quality park within a 10-minute walk of their home."

That is a recommendation--not a mandate or law. And Port Townsend shows up admirably on that item. A City analysis around that recommendation from over 25 years ago showed that ALL areas of the City east of San Juan Avenue are already meeting that recommendation, along with much of the newer, more outlying parts of town. And new neighborhood park land has been added since that 90's analysis. Also most of the population has 10-minute access to more parks via the Non-Motorized Trails system as well as Jefferson Transit. There is not dearth of parks or access to parks.

A big YES to prioritizing infrastructure repair--before we are left with lots of places to recreate but within a collapsing infrastructure.
