The Zumba world has a relative star coming to Jefferson County on March 21 to lead a master class.

Zumba jammer Katie Moore has been teaching Zumba classes since 2007. Voted “Best Fitness Instructor of West Hawaii” by West Hawaii Today for five years in a row, she is an accomplished dancer, athlete, triathlete and swimmer who has performed and instructed at major levels.

Moore is leading a session in Seattle this month and was asked by Kris Nelson of Port Townsend, who had seen Moore in a class, if she would come to Jefferson County for a jam session and master class.

“She is a ton of fun, and we are so excited to have her,” said Lucie Duclos of Zumbanistas, which operates out of the Twisters Gymnastics Center along Rhody Drive. “She is also a Zumba jammer, which means she teaches choreography and will do a session for us Friday night, but that is only open to Zumba instructors.”

The Zumba master class is from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 21 a the Chimacum High School gym, 91 West Valley Road. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Tickets are available at Zumbanistas at Twisters in Port Hadlock, through Paypal or on zumbanistas.com.
