Amy Yaley has joined the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader as a marketing specialist.
Yaley grew up in West Seattle, and moved to Jefferson County in 2007. She's been a Port Townsend resident for the last year.
Yaley has worked in sales most of her adult life. She and her mother for six years owned and operated the largest scrapbooking store on the east side of Seattle. She's worked in sales of video library subscriptions, for a natural products company, and for other small businesses.
"I've always done sales and marketing and how it's going to benefit my business or the person I'm working for," Yaley said. "It's not about selling an ad, it's about selling an ad that works and makes sense for that business."
As a former small business owner, "I know that feeling, when you have to count all your pennies and decide what is your best marketing plan. It's energizing for me to be able to help a business make those decisions."
Her marketing territory is Port Townsend's Uptown and downtown commercial districts, the marine trades marketplace.
Yaley has three children: Alice, a senior at Chimacum High School; Grace, a sophomore at CHS, and Will, a 5th grader at Port Townsend's Blue Heron School. During her years in Jefferson County she has been active in the Chimacum School PTA, served as president of the Jefferson County Soccer Association, and worked on various fundraising and booster projects around the Chimacum School.
