“Senior Power” proved too much for other classes to overcome, as the Class of 2017 won the Chimacum High School Homecoming Spirit Cup.
The seniors scored enough points in various contests throughout the week to claim victory, with the juniors and sophomores tied for second place. Competition culminated at a homecoming pep rally Oct. 7.
Homecoming royalty at Chimacum are picked on Oct. 3, so they can wear their sashes and crowns through all the ensuing festivities. The 2017 royalty are senior Queen Tessa Rasmussen with King Elijah Lobato, senior Princess Jordyn Johnson with Prince Lane Dotson, junior Princess Brianne Williamson and Prince Matthew Bainbridge, sophomore Princess Grace Yaley with Prince Issac Purser, and ninth-grade Princess Isabella Hasson with Prince Kyle Tenney.
One CHS homecoming glitch: windy weather led East Jefferson Fire Rescue to ask that the annual homecoming bonfire be postponed. The bonfire has been postponed until Thursday, Oct. 27, the night before the season’s last home football game.
