Five boats at Boat Haven will go on the auction block

It’s the stuff that dreams are made of.

Broken dreams, that is.

The Port of Port Townsend will be auctioning off five boats that have been left at the Port by their owners, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Port executive director Eron Berg said the three sailboats and two power boats had been hauled out and left at the yard when the owners stopped making payments on the vessels.

“I would characterize most of them as broken dreams,” Berg said. “Somebody had a vision, they kind of got the ball rolling, but the reality of the project to take that boat and turn it into that vision was unrealistic,” he said.

The five boats authorized for auction by the Port, identified by their names or the vessel registration number (WN), are: Temptress; WN 3880MC; Flying Gull; Wings of a Dove and; Anchor Dragger.

The auction will be held at the Port of Port Townsend Work Yard located at 2790 Washington Street. To see the full list of the boats to be sold and photos, visit portofpt.com/boats-for-sale/.
