A wonderful description of our town. But, we can do one better – "Experience Port Townsend, an extraordinary town where we take care of each other."
In the next few weeks we anticipate receiving a check from the federal government as part of the CARES Act economic stimulus package. This is money we never expected and will not be dependent upon. We are fortunate we have a home in an incredible community and the means to make it through this difficult time without the stimulus money.
This is not the situation for many of our neighbors, though, many of whom do not know how they will make it through the next several months.
We believe the government stimulus check presents those of us who will not be reliant on CARES funds with a unique opportunity to help our community. We hope you’ll consider joining us in donating all or a portion of your check to one of the many local organizations that are working hard to assist our neighbors in need. The website Local 2020 is a great resource for how and where to contribute, such as the Jefferson COVID – 19 Emergency Fund.
We know ours isn’t a unique idea and certainly is not for everyone, but we hope you will consider supporting this effort. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful way to give back to the community we love?
