Chimacum School District celebrates 100 years with a party, 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Chimacum High School Gym, 91 W Valley Road.
The centennial includes band performances, cheerleaders and campus tours, plus a chance to hear about the next step with district facilities, a possible bond request to voters, and creating a time capsule.
The first day of school is Sept. 8.
Chimacum School District attempted, and failed, to pass a school bond in February 2015. The proposed $38.4 million bond earned 51.6 percent of the vote, short of the necessary 60 percent supermajority.
After the measure failed, school district officials expressed a desire to try and pass the bond again, believing with better communication the effort could garner more support.
