I grew up in Mason County and moved to south Jefferson County over 15 years ago purely out of love for this place and its community and a desire to raise my children here.
When I first got my own property and my partner was pregnant with our first child, I was astonished at how difficult and expensive it is to legally build a home and live a simple life in this rural place. I was left with the choice between following the law or providing for my family. As a fairly rebellious, libertarian minded individual, the choice was clear for me and I blessedly never had trouble with the county.
People shouldn’t have to make this kind of choice.
Those of us who live in the rural parts of the county know that the previous Port Townsend and Port Ludlow commissioners have done little to nothing to make life easier for us.
This is exactly why I enthusiastically endorse Greg Brotherton. He lives with us, knows the people who are struggling and is willing to rock the boat to make real changes for our community. I trust his integrity and encourage people to spend time talking to him about things that need to change. He’s a great listener.
Greg is a liberty minded person who cares deeply for our future here. Where others have played safe to maintain the status quo and stay in office, Greg is running to be in service. I have not bothered actively getting behind a commissioner candidate in many, many years. He brings people together, treats people with respect and knows that difficult choices will have to be made in order to help our county reach its full potential for everyone, not just Port Townsend liberals.
Sincerely,
Ezra Eickmeyer
