Mindy Walker is a breath of fresh air, and it’s time to throw open the doors of the courthouse and let her in.
I am so grateful to have the chance to vote for a smart, capable, qualified woman to take the place of Judge Landes.
In my opinion, it would be a shame to take a step backward in this long, slow slog to parity on the bench.
Nationwide, women make up only 27 percent of our judges. Twenty-six years after Anita Hill’s testimony in the Thomas hearings that’s as far as we’ve gotten. Anybody who watched the Kavanaugh hearings knows it will be several generations before Americans might live in a culture that treats men and women with equal respect.
So, I’m excited to vote for Mindy. She has the dignity and grit it takes to withstand the reactions of the guys - and women - who can’t believe she had the nerve to file for office.
She has a better resume, a better message, and a better chance to bring the positive changes our District Court needs. Let’s keep a woman on the bench in District Court. There is no need to settle for less.
