Are you concerned about the increase in jet noise from the warcraft flown over the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the West End of the Olympic Peninsula? The issue is being discussed as part of the Pacific Northwest Electronic Warfare Range Environmental Assessment, now before federal officials in an environmental impact process led by the U.S. Forest Service. The focus of this project is to expand electronic warfare training over the skies and the seas of the Pacific edge of the Olympic Peninsula.

The time to say something is now.

The deadline for comments is Oct. 31. In the balance is a decision on whether the primary practice range for the noisier Growler jets will be here or in Idaho.

U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer has been pushing the Navy to hold one more public meeting, the previous one being held in distant Forks. It looks like one is slated from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Port Angeles City Council Chamber.
