St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Port Townsend offers a special half-day camp that brings local artists, sacred stories and spiritual enrichment to kids ages 4-13.
The "Waters of Life" camp, an outgrowth of the church's year-round “Art and Soul” program, is held 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday- Friday, July 20-24.
“Of the many talented artists we have this summer,” said the Rev. Tanya Barnett in a press release, “we are especially excited to have Phina and Sophie Pipia with us on a daily basis. All of our artists are putting their hearts and souls into this week in a way that we know will be a gift to our community.”
The camp is not exclusively for Christian families, Barnett said. “In the Episcopal tradition, our Christian identity is characterized by hospitality and respect for all beliefs, traditions and backgrounds. St. Paul’s is a Christian church, and we host this camp as an expression of our identity. It's our way of throwing open our doors to provide children and youth with the best week that we can imagine," she said, adding that “St. Paul’s adheres to a rigorous 'safe church' policy.”
Last summer, nearly 50 Jefferson County children and youths attended. Barnett anticipates more will attend this year. Space is limited, so parents and guardians are urged to register as soon as possible. A suggested donation of $10 per child is requested for the entire week, but no one is turned away for a lack of funds.
To register, or for further information, contact St. Paul's church at 385-0770, or stop by the church office weekday mornings at 1020 Jefferson St., uptown Port Townsend. Registration can also be completed online at
