A unique opportunity to run a a new "Valley of the Trolls" course arrives Saturday, Aug. 22 in Gardiner.
The inaugural Valley of the Trolls run offers 5K, 10K and a half-marathon winding through Troll Haven at Bandy Farms. Start time is 9 a.m.
This privately owned estate – complete with a castle, hundreds of troll carvings, sculptures and gardens – occupies 150 acres along Discovery Bay in Gardiner, located about 15 miles from Port Townsend.
Hosted by Friends of Jefferson County Parks and Recreation, the event is USA Track & Field certified. Jefferson Healthcare is hosting a kids' sprint for younger runners.
Entry fees, which include a T-shirt and commemorative medal for finishers, can be paid online.
Entertainment and a pasta dinner take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, in conjunction with packet pick up; music and entertainment are also planned for race day.
