Chimacum girls’ tennis outmatched by Olympic Trojans

After being rained out March 26, the Chimacum High School girls’ tennis team played at home March 28 against the Olympic Trojans

The match resulted in Chimacum losing to the visiting team 1-6.

“Olympic is a much larger school,” Chimacum Coach David Porter said. “They really dominated the doubles competition, other than fourth doubles.”

Porter nonetheless took pride in his players’ performances, including Gladys Hitt, who won second singles in three sets, and Chimacum’s fourth doubles team of Denisse Lopez and Madison Hess, even as they lost a close tie-breaker in the third set.

“Our net play needs work,” Porter said. “We played hard, but we lost to a more experienced team.”

Porter and his players are looking forward to Chimacum’s next scheduled match. Another home game is set for April 9 against Sequim.
